Acorus gramineus spreads aggressively by rhizome, creating a nearly-seamless groundcover where conditions are favorable, and it is frequently used around the edges of ponds and water gardens, as well as submerged in freshwater aquaria. It can be propagated by dividing the fleshy underwater rhizome and planting the base in shallow water.

In Japan during the Heian period, leaves of the plant were gathered for the Sweet Flag Festival on the fifth day of the fifth month. Sweet flag and wormwood were spread on the roofs of houses for decoration and to ward off evil spirits. Special herbal balls made of sweet flag were also fashioned for the occasion.

Alternanthera cardinalis, originally from South America, provides an effective contrast to the many green plants in an aquarium due to the purple colour underneath the leaves. If provided with enough CO2 and light the plant will become vividly coloured. Can grow rapidly up to 50 cm high.

Plants are incubated in a solution of 0.01% of the insecticide Buprafezin for one hour (Please do not just drop these in a shrimp tank or with any other crustacean. To use these within a tank please wash in water with baking soda under light. These are treated to remove the insecticide but there are cases where this has not been fully removed causing casualties in crustacean.

Alternanthera reineckii ‘Purple’ from South America needs plenty of light to grow and form dark-red leaves. Stems grow to 15-40 cm. In open aquariums it grows easily to the the water surface, and like other difficult plants growth improves considerably if CO2 is added. Shortage of micronutrients results in pale leaves. Like other stem plants Alternanthera reineckii ‘Purple’ looks best in groups.

Plants are incubated in a solution of 0.01% of the insecticide Buprafezin for one hour (Please do not just drop these in a shrimp tank or with any other crustacean. Very easy plant to propagate, remove the middle shoot and plant straight away in the substrate. This will help to make the mother plant bush out. Cuttings can also be taken from the side shoots. The substrate needs to be enriched with plenty of nutrients to ensure healthy growth and form a strong plant, root tabs are the easiest method to use to keep the substrate rich but dosing the water column will also aid the growth rate.

The Amazon Sword Plant, Echinodorus amazonicus, is a Rosette plant that is very popular with aquarium hobbyists. They are capable of reaching approximately 20 inches in height under proper water conditions. The Amazon Sword Plant has short rhizomes, numerous lance shaped leaves that are pale to dark green with sharply pointed tips, and fairly short stems. It is an amphibious plant that will grow either partially or fully submersed.

For the most beautiful Amazon Sword Plants, a loose substrate and an iron-rich fertilizer must be used. The Amazon Sword Plant requires at least 2 watts per gallon of full spectrum lighting (5000-7000K). The aquarium temperature should be from 72°-82°F, with an alkalinity of 3 to 8 dKH and a pH of 6.5-7.5. Propagation is by adventitious plants on the covered peduncles.

Best cultivated in large aquariums, Amazon Sword Plants make a great focal point if used singly. When used in groups, they create an interesting background when grown with other aquarium plants.

Aponogeton madagascariensis is a bulb plant from Madagascar and is a speciality in botanical gardens all over the world. Aponogeton madagascariensis makes such high demands on water quality and the bottom that it can only be recommended as a solitary plant in large, specialised aquariums in which the water is replaced frequently. There are several varieties, with different structures and leaf widths, and sizes from 25-50 cm.

Plants are incubated in a solution of 0.01% of the insecticide Buprafezin for one hour (Please do not just drop these in a shrimp tank or with any other crustacean). Nymphaea ‘Arc-en-Ciel’ The leaves are certainly the standout feature of this truly unique variety. They are olive green, frequently splashed yellow, cream, pink, and even red radiating from the center. No other waterlily leaf is similar and each Arc-en-Ciel pad is different. The flowers are pretty, shell pink, fading to nearly white on the last day, held above the water surface, and have a strong fragrance. A wonderful, fun lily for the collector.

Its ability to grow in water makes it a popular aquarium plant. It can even grow in slightly brackish conditions. Propagation is through cuttings. It grows easily in the aquarium. The color of the leaves will vary, depending on the amount of light. The leaves will turn bronze or even almost red under high light levels.
In the wild it grows in bog or semi-submersed conditions, adapting well if flooded and fully submerged. It can be grown in or by the pond in warmer locales (or in shallow dishes or as a house plant if kept sufficiently damp) and will grow all year round, but is frost tender (though it will normally grow back from the roots if damaged) and appreciates a light shade.
In the aquarium it needs good lighting to grow strongly but will survive in even fairly low-light levels. Prefers a clean, nutriment rich environment.

is a very popular aquatic plant among the aquarium fish keepers. It is also known as Moneywort, Water hyssop, Coastal Water hyssop, Brahmi, Bacopa, Thyme-leafed gratiola, Herb of grace, Babies tear, Herpestis monniera, Indian pennywort etc. It is quite widespread throughout India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, China, Pakistan, Taiwan, Australia, Europe, Africa, Vietnam, North and South America. In the wild, it occurs along the banks of lakes, rivers, pools, along streams, ditches and rice fields. It can also grow in slightly brackish conditions. It grows immersed with a creeping habit and submersed with upright stems. Its immersed form develops beautiful light pink flowers in the leaf axils.

The plant grows well in the shadow of other plants. Very suitable as a bit higher carpet – or bushy plant in the middle or front of the aquarium. The plant becomes more vertical growing and less compact without CO2 additive and decreased light conditions.

Plants are incubated in a solution of 0.01% of the insecticide Buprafezin for one hour (Please do not just drop these in a shrimp tank or with any other crustacean. This Blyxa species is not too difficult to grow if its basic requirements are met: intense lighting in the 2-4 watts per gallon range, CO2 injection, and a fertilization regimen including nitrate, phosphate, potassium, and micronutrient supplementation. If conditions are to its liking and lighting is intense, the leaves of B. japonica will develop golden and reddish hues and the plants will exhibit more compact growth. If it does not receive enough lighting, however, B. japonica will become taller, lankier, and greener. This plant produces an impressive root system and appreciates a nutritious substrate. If phosphate levels are kept high (1-2 ppm), this species will continuously produce small white flowers on long, thin stalks.

Blyxa Japonica is a very beautiful plant in the planted aquarium hobby due to its attractive grassy, hedge-like appearance. It shows more beauty and can be used in the foreground or mid-ground area of the planted aquarium. It is available in local pet shops or online vendor. You can easily obtain from many online retailers and traders from home. If you want to purchase this gorgeous plant with the reasonable prices from home, look below online vendor and ask them the details about the plant to supply. I highly recommend to buy this plant due to its aesthetic beauty and easy care for.  It does well in the mid-ground and foreground of a larger aquarium or a background in a smaller tank. It grows easily in aquarium condition with proper care. The tank should have good water chemistry with a pH of 5.0-7.0, hardness of 2-12 dGH and a temperature of 73.4 – 80.60F (23 – 27 0C).
