Anubias congensis is slow growing, hardy, and undemanding, with robust growth under ideal conditions. Juvenile forms of the plant often have reddish brown leaves. However, as the plant matures, the leaf colour changes to a dark, vibrant green and it serves as the perfect aquarium accent plant. Anubias species are robust aquatic plants from various river and stream habitats in Africa, where they are usually found in the margins of waterways and in marshy conditions. These plants are best attached to aquarium decor such as bogwood or Lava rock, and care should be taken not to push the rhizome into the substrate where it can rot. Plants are incubated in a solution of 0.01% of the insecticide Buprafezin for one hour (Please do not just drop these in a shrimp tank or with any other crustacean. To use these within a tank please wash in water with baking soda under light. These are treated to remove the insecticide but there are cases where this has not been fully removed causing casualty’s in crustacean.
